Unction is a Divine enslaved by the Fabreal Duchy. It is suggested to be "chained somewhere underneath" the castle at Carleon. It produces the iridescent oil which the nobles of the Duchy use to contain and maintain their consciousnesses.

During Exeter Leap's raid and seizure of Carleon, he escapes with Unction in "a boat filled with gold".[1] Thisbe then helps to advocate for Unction's autonomy. The possibilities for Unction's future (especially regarding the oil it produces and its relationship with the glass nobles) are left open: "Unction needs some time, wants to be cared for in a way that isn’t exploitative, does not go and join [Wakeful], maybe hangs out with some Twill in a safe place."[1]
