Twill

From fattwiki

The Twill are a group of people long resident on Palisade. The Twill come from various lineages, including Qui Err, Divine Fleet synthetics, and others.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

The bodies of Twill are covered in photosynthetic moss.[1] Beyond this unifying feature, Twill vary greatly in appearance. Some, like Kriminel Kollage, look like Qui'Err people, while others look like synthetic beings, Talonites, and so on.[2]

Culture[edit | edit source]

The Twill are all about permaculture and sustainable living.[3][Note 1]

Twill culture emphasizes communal care and bringing people in.[2] They practice "collaboration, aid, and acceptance" and have often helped those left behind by colonial powers on successive incursions "find sustainable lives on the world, either by blending with the group over generations or through open exchange of goods and information."[4]

History and Involvement[edit | edit source]

A lot of the Twill's ecological practices originated with the arrival and integration of the Qui'Err from the Twilight Mirage about 5,000 years before the events of PALISADE. More recently, the Twill were forcibly displaced from their land by the Frontier Syndicate.[2]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Austin referenced the Slow Movement and its potential intersections with Deleuzoguattarian thought when describing the Twill's philosophy.[2]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  1. In "The Wheels Turning Pt. 1" Austin contrasts this against the fake Gur Sevraq's more colonial characterization of Palisade as a garden to cultivate.
