The Black Slacks are an immigrant union in Marielda.
History[edit | edit source]
The Black Slacks are refugees and exiles from the mainland and their descendants; once known for their extravagantly colored pants, they were forced to wear drab black woolen pants by factory supervisors. Now, they still wear those pants, along with the most flamboyant shirts possible, as a sign of protest of their treatment.
The Black Slacks grew more powerful as Samothes's armies left the city, and soon became involved in protests and riots such as those outside Memoriam College and on High Sun Day.
After Samot came into power in Marielda, wearing black slacks began to go out of fashion, although some, such as County Sans-Soleil, continued wearing the pants to show their ongoing dissatisfaction.
