It is said that in the lowest depths of Diadem, deep below the surface of Palisade itself, there exists a network so ancient and so important that the people who named it were right to call it the Fundament. Most who know its name believe that it controls the Diadem itself, and could be key to bringing the long dead city back online. Others suspect that it connects to the train and power lines that run across the planet’s continents. And the most superstitious—those who know the Afflictions by name (and claim to know the proper prayers to say to keep them at bay)—believe the Fundament’s power goes beyond even that: to the seas, to the skies, to weather, and life itself. | It is said that in the lowest depths of [[Diadem]], deep below the surface of Palisade itself, there exists a network so ancient and so important that the people who named it were right to call it the Fundament. Episode description[edit | edit source]
It is at the door to this mythical place that the crew of the Blue Channel find themselves now, entwined in battle with Bilateral interlopers and desperate to finish the job they were sent to do.

Plot[edit | edit source]
Cori and Phrygian continue to battle the Bilateral mechs and the pawn of Cleave in order to protect the village from harm. Eventually, both Cleave's pawn and the Bilateral forces retreat to safety, away from the village.
Meanwhile, Thisbe, Brnine, and Figure take an elevator down to the Fundament node to complete their objective. At the bottom they come across a Twill man, Veston Vicinity, who aims a shotgun at them and demands to know who they are. Figure and Thisbe try and fail to disarm him; he shoots them both. Before he can shoot Brnine as well, the Twill woman the crew spotted earlier, Kriminel Kollage, emerges and makes him stand down.
In the room behind Kriminel and Veston the Fundament node is hooked up to the body of a Delegate, which is beginning to move. Kriminel and Veston reveal that they have been attempting to use a backup to resurrect the dead Divine Palisade. It quickly becomes clear that the resurrection did not go as planned; instead, Partial Palisade awakens with partial memories of their previous life in the Divine Fleet.
While everyone else is focused on Partial Palisade, Brnine access the console of the Fundament node to run Gucci's logistics program and complete their primary objective. Brnine then offers the Twill passage aboard the Blue Channel, but puts them in the cargo hold so as to keep them away from the rest of the ship.
