Blue Channel (ship)

This page is for the spaceship. For other uses, see Blue Channel (disambiguation).

The Blue Channel is Broun's ship. It is given to them by Valence at the end of the Millennium Break arc.

Appearance and Interior[edit | edit source]

The ship is almond or teardrop shaped, with added mech hangars forming a 'belly'.[1] When it's cloaked, its exterior has a glow to it: "like a golden hour situation, but it's like, digital".[2]

Its interior has a larger central "hangout" area with branching hallways leading to sleep quarters, the engine room and so on. The Blue Channel has no artificial gravity, so there are handles to navigate along the hallways, and most rooms are taller than they are wide. Pipes in the ceiling offer a guide between different areas.[1]

Rec Room[edit | edit source]

The Blue Channel has a rec room, described as having "lots of physical media" and "clutter without mess".[3] It is equipped with a TV, couch, and armchairs, a rhythm arcade game with switchable cassettes, a card table and chair, and snack drawers. Other features of the rec room include four houseplants, a fishbowl full of loose VHS tapes, a series of books on combat triage, and a small vent access grate.[4] Among the media stored in the rec room are tapes of conversations between Valence and Gur Sevraq.[5]

The rec room is the site for movie nights, hangouts, and heart to hearts — "don't talk work!"[3] Because the Blue Channel does not have a brig, it also serves as a makeshift holding space for people taken prisoner by the crew.[4]

Brnine's Quarters[edit | edit source]

In PALISADE, Brnine sleeps on a loft bed inside their quarters. Under the loft bed is an open area where Asepsis lives and "hangs out." The room also contains the string of pearls plant that Thisbe put inside a Bing 32 bot as a gift to Brnine; Asepsis trims and prunes it.[6]

History[edit | edit source]

PARTIZAN[edit | edit source]

Valence uses their connections to procure the ship for Broun after Millennium Break takes Cruciat,[7] fulfilling their promise to help Broun find a means of leaving Partizan.[8] In "The Red Light", Broun finds a message from Valence inside the Blue Channel, which is accompanied by the coordinates of the Nobel home world. They fly the Blue Channel throughout the "Escape Velocity" and "Operation Shackled Sun" arcs.

After the events of PARTIZAN, Brnine changes their name and remains on the run in the Blue Channel, which they upgrade using Kalmeria and Asepsis. They eventually become the captain of a small crew of guerillas operating on Palisade in support of the Cause. The crew has a reputation as a group of "weirdos who get shit done".

The Blue Channel is commanded by Gucci Garantine, who also votes for them in Cause command meetings. The Blue Channel cell of the cause also contains other guerilla cells who work directly under Gucci, and have not been seen on screen.[9]

At the end of A Palette of Colors, when Brnine leaves Palisade and the Twilight Mirage, they give the Blue Channel to Hunt.[10]

Beam Saber[edit | edit source]

In Beam Saber, the Blue Channel was not built out with quirks, but its health was represented by a three step clock in the "Escape Velocity" mission.

Armour Astir: Advent[edit | edit source]

In Armour Astir: Advent, the Blue Channel is Tier V. It has the carrier bonuses Cloaking Rituals, allowing it to hide from sight, and Marine Infantry, meaning the crew will fight tooth and nail to defend the ship.[14]
