Zig'ell Barbos, also known as Xiphion or the Red Roc, is the elect of the Divine Valour, a star of the Apostolosian military, and a poster boy for the Pact.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Zig looks like Dev Patel with anime red highlights. He has red scales on his neck and chest and running down the sides of his body and arms.[1]
Personality[edit | edit source]
Zig'ell is extremely charismatic and capable of swaying people to believe in what he believes in. He tries to be honorable, focusing, for example, on defense in combat, rather than on chasing down and killing every last enemy.[2] In the eyes of the general public, he is chivalrous, the Pact's "de facto honorable knight."[3]
History and Involvement[edit | edit source]
Zig’ell is a trans man. Zig kept zig’s Apostolosian name and pronouns in personal use even after being chosen by Valour as its elect, which is unusual.[4]
During the early days of the war, he once met Kalar Anakalar while delivering aid to Obelle on behalf of the Swordbreakers.
He is famed for his talent as a pilot and commander. There is good reason for this: zig spent years serving as Cas'alear Rizah's confidant and lieutenant in the Swordbreakers before he was promoted and transferred into service directly under the Divine Motion, working closely as the elect Laurel’s right hand. He is a true believer in the Pact’s mission to split the Principality up[5] and the Pact's biggest poster boy.[3]

In the PALISADE finale, Zig'ell and Valour take part in a Pact offensive above the Earth. During the fight, he is defeated by Coriolis Sunset, but Cas'alear stops her from killing Zig'ell. She manages to persuade Zig'ell to leave the Pact and switch sides, and he continues the fight on the side of Millennium Break.[6]
Relationships[edit | edit source]
Cas'alear Rizah[edit | edit source]
Zig'ell was once Cas'alear Rizah's right-hand man and "very clear BL love interest." They were best friends and possibly more. Since the formation of the Pact of Necessary Venture, they have been rivals.[3]

That is, until Coriolis Sunset, using words Cas'alear said to her, persuades a defeated Zig'ell to defect from the Pact and join the side of Millennium Break. In the final episode of PALISADE, zig is seen in Valour fighting alongside Cas'alear.[6]
