Levitation Cascabel-Gardner is a seventh-generation member of the Cascabel-Gardner family. His friends call him Levi. He works for the family business, the Cascabel-Gardner Catering Cooperative.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Levi is a young man in his early 20s with light brown skin. Half of his scalp is buzzed, and on the other half his hair is grown out into long braids that trail down his shoulders. His facecast is a younger Lukas Sabbat.[1] He is ripped, and probably an inch or two shorter than Coriolis.[2]
When he first meets the crew of the Blue Channel, he's wearing a cape that is reminiscent of Cascabel's poncho, but longer in the back.[1] His movie night outfit is basketball shorts and a hoodie with one sleeve cut off for fashion reasons.[3]
Personality[edit | edit source]
During his debut, Dre describes Levi as a "young idiot" and Austin says he has "a little young shithead" to him, similar to Twilight Mirage characters like Echo Reverie. He might sell you molly. Levi is eager to show off the cool moves he can do with his Pile Bunker to Eclectic,[1] and when Brnine and Gucci have an argument in the hall outside the rec room during movie night, he shamelessly presses his ear against the door to eavesdrop.[3]
Levi is also really proud of being a descendant of two ancient heroes. He often refers to them simply as his "grandpas" instead of his great-great-great-great-great-great grandpas; when he does list all the "great"s, he has to count them on his fingers.[1]
In Questlandia, Levi's drive is Adventure and Wanderlust, his personality is Daredevil and Ambitious, and his weakness is Flee.[4]
Goal (Questlandia)[edit | edit source]
- Be a force for good acknowledged across the galaxy.[5]
Hooks (Armour Astir)[edit | edit source]
- Be the hope that crosses the stars.[6]
- The ends can't justify the means, or we're no better than who we're fighting.[6]
- Ask the questions other people won't.[6]
History and Involvement[edit | edit source]
Spoiler warning! This section contains major spoilers for PALISADE 42: A Mechanical Whine Pt. 4. Tread carefully! |
Levi was born and raised in the Twilight Mirage. He works for the family catering business, the Cascabel-Gardner Catering Cooperative. It's analogous to the various family businesses in Japan that are 800 or more years old, except if one of those businesses was founded by famous ancient samurai heroes.
He meets the crew of the Blue Channel shortly after Palisade becomes part of the Quire system. Gucci Garantine hires the Cascabel-Gardner Catering Cooperative to deliver a gift of food and other supplies to the Blue Channel, and Levi delivers the order in a space semi truck. He is greeted by Eclectic Opposition and Kalvin Brnine when he arrives, and asks them if he can sign up as a new recruit.[1]
During the Questlandia game, Levi achieves his goal (to become a force for good acknowledged across the galaxy) with flying colours. By leading a number of successful operations, he earns himself a series of quick promotions, leaving the crew of the Blue Channel and eventually leading his own crew, the Starcrossed Brigade.[6]
During "Some New Thing Found in the Light", Levi is the one to bring Blue Channel back together for the final Sortie.[7]
Relationships[edit | edit source]
August Righteousness[edit | edit source]
Levitation admires August Righteousness, who is unimpressed by him.[4]
Coriolis Sunset[edit | edit source]
He tries to flirt with Cori during his first movie night with the crew of the Blue Channel. It doesn't go well for him. However, he and Cori bond over eavesdropping on Brnine and Gucci together during that same movie night,[3] and by the end of the Questlandia game, they seem to be on good terms.[8] Cori is impressed by the urgency with which Levi fights, and Levi wants to help her get to the other side of the war.[6]
Eclectic Opposition[edit | edit source]
Eclectic is impressed by Levi's cool Pile Bunker moves,[1] but does not understand why he is so enthusiastic. Levi finds Eclectic a bit boring, especially after he makes Levi go through a job interview.[4]
Exeter Leap[edit | edit source]
Levi respects Leap and his charismatic leadership.[6]
Kalvin Brnine[edit | edit source]
Levi seems to like and respect Kalvin Brnine. He convinces them to return to the Blue Channel after their year adrift by telling them that the crew needs them,[7] and he feels weird about "leading" them in the final PALISADE Sortie.[6]
Reggie[edit | edit source]
Reggie is the name of Levi's Starcrossed second-in-command.[9]
Relationship Mechanics[edit | edit source]
Gravity Clocks (Armour Astir)[edit | edit source]
- It feels weird to be "leading" Brnine.[6]
- I'll help Cori cross the finish line of this war.[6]
- I can learn a lot from Leap about being an endearing leader.[6]
Questlandia[edit | edit source]
- Eclectic seems cool enough, but he's kind of boring. [Exhausted][4]
- August: This is what a hero looks like.[4]
Abilities[edit | edit source]
- Giantslayer: Levi himself is tier III.[6]
Possessions[edit | edit source]
As the Giantslayer Scout, Levi has a custom tier III armament that only he can wield: the Pile Bunker. It is a pneumatic compressor strapped to his arm that releases pneumatic energy to fire forward like a lance or pile driver when Levi punches.[1]
As of the final Sortie, Levi's Pile Bunker has been replaced by his Anti-Gravity Sword, which is also tier III but has Ruin on it.[6]
