Occam Olio is a mercenary and an officer of Lock and Cross Security Services. Following a lucky victory in an operation against Rose River, they become a hero of the Frontier Syndicate.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Occam is a synthetic Columnar person. Their head is shaped like that of a contemporary US soldier wearing a helmet. While their face was originally silver, the sheen has faded and it is now matte. The rest of their head is mostly the same colour as their face, but with a green outline around the edges of the "helmet" area.

In Austin's words: "'What if a soldier was a robot' is truly the vibe."[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Occam is "sharp the way a knife is."[2] They are well-liked by their peers.[1] Following their combat victory against a Divine, they suspect that their success was a fluke, but try to project supreme confidence in themself.[3]

History and Involvement[edit | edit source]

They bought into Exanceaster March's hype and signed up with the Frontier Syndicate, eventually becoming "the mercenary equivalent of a non-commissioned officer" with Lock and Cross. They saved up their wages to purchase their current body, which—as a work-related body frame—was partially subsidized by the Frontier Syndicate's health plan.

In a fight against Rose River, Occam gets very, very lucky. After losing communications with home base, they rally their troops around them and lead an ambush to occupy Rose River's forces; Occam then leaves a decoy mech behind and makes a run for the Fundament node behind enemy lines. Fealty falls for the decoy and Occam blows it up, taking out a bunch of Fealty's figures and enabling Occam to achieve their objective.[1] As a result, Occam becomes a hero within the Frontier Syndicate, and a variety of Occam Olio-themed merch is made available for purchase.[3]

In a later operation, Occam and fellow Frontier operative Blank Shore break into the railway roundhouse in Carmathen in search of the final Fundament node. Despite opposition from Jade Kill and the interference of Dust's minions, Occam is again able to attain their goal.[3]
