Carmathen is a "mid-tier" city in the west of Palisade, just south of the Diadem. It is a dry and cloudy former industrial hub, comparable to Pittsburgh. A central railway roundhouse descends into the ground and provides control over the grav trains.
Carmathen has historically been a seat of power for the Fabreal Duchy, and in the PALISADE era it is Kesh-controlled. In the aftermath of the Bilateral Intelligence Service's withdrawal, however, Kesh's control of the city is contested in places by the Fabreal Duchy and Nidean forces, leaving Carmathen's defenses extremely limited.[1]
