Yellowfield

From fattwiki

Before the Panic this little valley of yellow flowers was the territory of a petty wizard and the subjects he frightened or beguiled. He called it his Xanthic Demesne, but these days we just call it Yellowfield. In the center of the valley, there’s a candle factory, and it is here that the old axiom refers: “All the candle light in Sangfielle was made with just twenty odd hands.”

Yellowfield is a town to the South of Blackwick, across the mountains. It has a population around twenty.

Geography[edit | edit source]

The town is in a field of rapeseed (canola) flowers that is cut through the middle by one of the major shape lines. The town itself is on the north side of the tracks and is a little village of five shack-like houses, a longer building, and the Yellowfield Candle Company.

On the southern side of the tracks is the South Field, which is somehow hotter and more unpleasant to be in.

History[edit | edit source]

Rana's story[edit | edit source]

Before the Panic, the region was owned by a petty little wizard who called it his Xanthic Demesne. After the Panic, his subjects turned on him. They took over the field and built the factories. They perhaps did this with a little help from the Shape (which was young at the time). Decades later, the church was built and the leader of it took power. They lost control to the factory foremen, who were replaced by the village elder. These transitions of power have been a repeating cycle over the years.
