A Drakkan member of Blackwick County’s youth community, a member of the group who went beneath the Abbey’s ruins a year ago, and if his equipment is anything to go by, an undercover agent of the Free Seas of Kay'va.
Akule "Janek" Polyte (yah-nik poh-lee-tay) is a light yellow-orange Drakkan in his early twenties who lives in Blackwick.
Backstory[edit | edit source]
Polyte is a Star-Touched agent of Kay'va who came to Sangfielle after he carried out some wetwork (mostly political assassinations) in the Pale Magistratum and became wanted.
In Episode 2 Polyte, along with a group of youths from Blackwick, found a trapdoor leading into the basement of the Abbey of the Mother-Beast, then a giant cathedral. The Mother-Beast therein would feature in his tall stories for some time to come. On the altar, the group found an egg sac in a ceremonial bowl, which Polyte took home and kept warm for some time, until word leaked.
Hymn of the Mother-Beast Arc[edit | edit source]
When a Pale Magistrate came to Blackwick to chase Polyte down, he fled into the abbey again. The White Flower Caretaker attempted to attack both of them and they cooperated momentarily, then attacked each other again. Polyte convinced Ezek that the Hymn of the Mother-Beast contained a great treasure, so the two cooperated long enough to sing the hymn and travel into view of the priory. On seeing this, Ezek realized that this was not a rich location, and attacked again, causing Polyte to drop his compass. When he fired a shot, a window broke and the Sisters of the Mother-Beast arrested both of them.
Following this disappearance, the Blackwick Group were contacted to retrieve Janek. On arriving at the Priory, they convinced the Sisters to release both Janek and Ezek to their care with the argument that any consequences for Ezek's death would fall only on Blackwick. On their journey back, Ezek escaped from his bounds, but Pickman killed him, and so the group were able to return to Blackwick with Polyte unscathed and charming them with tales of his exploits.
Bell Metal Station Arc[edit | edit source]
In the broken dining car of the Prince Alexander, Lye Lychen found a letter from Polyte to fellow Star-Touched agent Mirlande. In this letter, he thanked her for coming on her way to extract him, saying that he was eager to return home to Kay'va, and offered to help her with her "final investigation in Sangfielle" surrounding the situation in Bell Metal Station. As said letter was found on her corpse there, she must not have taken him up on this.
