Uno Riscano, known as the Count of Cards, is a member of the Wrights of the Seventh Sun, and Hazard's nemesis.
He is a devil with one horn missing.
Background[edit | edit source]
Hazard states that the person whom they are tracking took everything from them. This includes a number of memories, including the majority of details about his identity and their own. What seems clear is that over the course of one long, hazy night, Hazard sunk everything they owned into betting on a series of games of False War with Uno Riscano, and then making further bets to recoup their losses. Finally, hoping to win everything back, they wagered the silver coin that they carried in their mouth. When they lost this round, Uno correctly judged that they would not be willing to give up the coin, and stabbed them.
Uno left a kiss mark upon the card for the Count of Cards in Hazard's deck.

Marrow in the Bone[edit | edit source]
In Episode 34, Kaitankro speculates that the Count is likely somewhere west of the mountains. Indeed, at the end of the episode, he is seen in Marrowcreek, walking towards the hypothetical fountain described by the Glim Macula interrogators.
However, this was a mirage: somehow, the false town created by the moon-touched woods had summoned him here based on Hazard's desire to get even, and given him a job at the slaughterhouse. Delian had noticed him there, and led Hazard there when they enquired around town.
Hazard confronted Uno when he emerged from the shower there, and the two ended up playing a game of False War, which strangely recapitulated the events of their last meeting. Hazard attempted to cheat but lost the hand, and Uno again stabbed them; enraged, and once again remembering his name and the echoes of the previous hand, they shot him. However, when they were distracted by Katonya, he managed to flee.
Dead in the Dust[edit | edit source]
In Dead in the Dust Pt. 1, Uno appeared again as a knife-thrower in the Carnival of Moted Light.

This time, Hazard shot him in the chest. Uno was able to tell them that the silver coin was in his right pocket (which it was not, as the Course had moved it to Dyre Owed's "Market of Oddities and Esoterica".) before dying of his wounds. Hazard and Chine then chopped his head off.
