Around fifty years after the panic set in, Altapasqua told her people she would ride across this cursed land and purge it of its disease and danger. She only made it about three fourths of the way.

The Sunken Empress, Altapasqua, was a ruler of Aldomina around the time of the Panic. She planned a grand procession across the heartland to bring hope to her people, but disappeared midway through.

Although scouts were sent out to Eastern Folly to announce her imminent arrival, the entire procession was never seen again after staying at Last Rest, leading to the ominous naming of both places. However, it is said that sometimes the lights of their pavilion can be seen across the lake.

During The Curse of Eastern Folly, skeleton courtiers imply that the Sunken Empress has continued to hold court under the lake (presumably also as a skeleton), though her subjects are now fractured between the Loyalists and the True Loyalists.
