Elena was once a golden gloves boxer known in the ring as La Flor Letal. She had a reputation for having a "good chin"—i.e., she was good at being punched in the face. Her wrestling prowess gained her the attention of the [[Veranda Family|Veranda family]], who kidnapped her and genetically experimented on her to make her into a better boxer. These experiments worked too well: Elena acquired super strength and used this power to knock her captors unconscious, punch through a wall, and escape.


[[Marcus Arailius Smith]] was her old boxing trainer and knows about her new superhero powers. Elana previously lived in the back room of the boxing gym he owns. She trains there, as well as at the [[Firebird Gym]] with [[Tawny Buck]].
After her escape, she went through a phase of taking her anger out on people who did not necessarily deserve the full force of her wrath. She ultimately decided that she wanted something that would enable her to channel her anger into a force for good: becoming The Champ. She worked as a solo superhero for a time, occasionally teaming up with [[Grouse]]. Elena Flores,[1] also known by her hero name The Champ, is a teenage superhero in Bluff City.
