Caterina "Cattie" Pontecorvo is a young woman who works as a photographer's aid at the Arvo And Stacks Photography Studio on Kingfish Pier in Bluff City in 1899.
She is described as being petite, with dark eyes, a pale, flushed complexion (like rosacea), and fluffy, shoulder-length, cropped blonde hair which she keeps pinned up in such a way that you can't tell that it's cropped. When seen in America's Playground, she is wearing a striped wrap dress with a blouse underneath and a necktie. When not at work, she favours a bicycle suit (a dress with pants underneath).
She was born in Windsor, and her family moved to Bluff City when she was a young child.
She is somewhat of an outsider. Despite the fact that she often looks bored or tired, she is highly passionate about working as a photographer and is angling to get promoted in order to be able to do her own photography projects and have her name added to the photography studio where she works. Currently she is not allowed to work on her own projects, and mainly is responsible for assisting Arvo and Stack and taking the "less important" portraits. Many people believe she is wasting her time with this technical, dangerous field. Despite her passion for the work, she will sometimes sneak behind the shop to smoke, hiding the cigarette so that she can finish it at a later time.
