The Cause is a group of allied organizations secretly working to oppose the Principality invasion and occupation of Palisade.

The Millennium Break side of the Cause is commanded by Gucci Garantine. Each of the factions is named after a color and a water feature due to Gucci's naming sense.

Factions

Blue Channel

The faction composed of the Blue Channel's crew. Supported by some Twill people.

Jade Kill

A military faction which "opposes with direct assaults and force", based in Joyous Guard. Jade Kill is led by August Righteousness and his Delegate liberation group, Reunion, "and supported by Kalar Anakalar's Giantkiller unit and a wing of Swordbreakers."

Violet Cove

Based in the Isle of the Broken Key, Violet Cove is a strange faction which "opposes with the weird and unexplained". It is comprised of two distinct cults - the Cult of Devotion and the Dim Liturgy - as well as newly-arrived forces from the Twilight Mirage.

Violet Cove has been found by Asepsis to harbour a number of BIS spies.[1]

Grey Pond

A group of suppliers which "opposes with new equipment or supplies", based out of the hills of Sinder Karst. They are "blue collar revolutionaries" from the Oxblood Clan, the Company of the Spade, and the Concrete Front.

Carmine Bight

A group of adventurers which "opposes with bold action and unpredictable tactics", based out of Rifle Island. They are submarine pilots and submarine pirates, long descendants of the Herringbone Flotilla and Lineage Brighton. Carmine Bight is led by Captain Skelton Knaggs and "guided by a coalition of Hyphan navigators".

Rose River

A research unit which "opposes with ingenuity and curiosity", based out of New Oath. This faction contains not only Veronique, Fealty and their supporters, but an NEH Sleep Detachment squad from over 5,000 years ago. Lonny and T from the Twilight Mirage "godspeed, glory" episode descriptions are members. The group is melancholy and dreamlike, and they "hope for a day when they can be something other than soldiers."
