“
They say she makes her staff practice dying.”
Stargrave Elcessor is a Stargrave of Stel Kesh and formerly the highest-ranking member of the BIS on Palisade. She reports directly to the Princept.
Mechanically, she is one of the Pillars of the BIS division. It is also due to her presence that the BIS is initially the Authority's major division on planet.[1]
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Elcessor is a blonde woman who appears to be somewhere the range of late fifties to mid-sixties. In the video in which her aide-de-camp delivers her ultimatum to Cause leadership, she wears full military regalia with her detonator clamped to her right arm.[2]
Personality[edit | edit source]
Elcessor collects vintage cameras. She brought 100 of the most prized pieces in her collection with her to Palisade, packed in straw in wooden boxes.[1]
Her paranoia during her time on Palisade, fueled by the Divine Authority, leads to rumours among the Bilateral Intercession that she has gone mad.[2]

Origins[edit | edit source]
Elcessor went to military school in Kesh space.
PALISADE[edit | edit source]
Stel Kesh sends her to Palisade to oversee the Principality's occupation of the planet and to "hold [a] knife over the Twilight Mirage."[3] Her arrival causes tension with the Fabreal Duchy, leading to the ousting of Perpetual Lustre as the Duchy's leader.[1]
On Palisade, she effectively rules the Bilateral Intercession from her base in Tintagel. As a Stargrave she has the authority to detonate the system's stellar combustor, should she deem it necessary to protect the Principality.[1] Doing so would destroy not only the Palisade system and the Twilight Mirage, but also the 23 nearest star systems.[3]
During her time on the planet, and especially following the Cause's destruction of the Kestral White, she becomes deeply paranoid. She has a dummy detonator created that she uses to practice detonating the stellar combustor.[4] It is rumoured that she makes her staff practice dying;[2] this is likely the influence of the Divine Authority.[5]
In response to losing the Kestral White, she delivers an ultimatum: the leaders of each Cause faction must turn themselves in to the Bilateral Intercession immediately or she will detonate the combustor and end trillions of lives. Nobody, not even Connadine, can talk her down.[2] She is thwarted by members of the Blue Channel who sneak onto the stellar combustor and, with assistance from STEREOMA, deactivate not only her stellar combustor, but every stellar combustor in the galaxy.[5] As a result, the BIS is ousted as the Bilats' major division on Palisade,[6] and Elcessor is removed from power, taken off planet, and possibly executed. Whatever her punishment, it happens behind the scenes, because Stel Kesh is afraid of drawing attention to the loss of the stellar combustors by doing anything publicly.[7] She is replaced on Palisade by Lucia Whitestar and the Whitestar fleet.[8]
