Part 2 of 2!
Plot[edit | edit source]
Carroway and Dovey ride Ransom into the mountains in an attempt to salvage what's left of the oranges. They find competition in opportunistic squirrels, which are ultimately drawn away by the moving sound of witch song, allowing them to gather the remaining oranges.
Mellow calls a meeting in Penny Many-Things to distribute informational pamphlets about curses, hoping to curb some of the fear stirred up by the velvet incident. There she is confronted by a disgruntled Mr. Click, offended by her rejection of MaGuddans' job offers. He implies he will destroy her business by promoting non-cursed toys, but Mellow stands her ground. She is backed up by Dovey, who kicks Mr. Click out of her store.
With the velvet crisis being dealt with, Dovey makes an offer to Mellow and Carroway; they can each have a window in her shop, provided they can create a toy to fill it. The toymakers begin working on their projects.
Carroway is designing a modular cat toy that can be customized in the shop. She gets Dovey's help perfecting leg length and posing, finding new focus in her single-minded pursuit of her goals. Meanwhile, Mellow is attempting to build on her tail-wagging mechanism to create walking figurines. She gets Dovey's advice on her prototype. In her efforts, she forgets to perform her anti-curse ritual, activating her curse which transforms her into a ferret every day between the hours of 11am and 3pm.
The suitors reveal their toys the evening before the holiday shopping season starts in earnest, discovering that neither of them have made enough to fill out the display. Dovey suggests they both share one window, leaving them frustrated at falling short of their goal. Despite this, they are satisfied knowing this is not the end of their relationship with Dovey, professional or otherwise.
Penny Many-Things stays afloat through the holidays, though the threat of MaGuddans remains. After the rush dies down, Dovey is shown working on new toy designs for collaboration with the suitors; a singing witch figure and a walking St. Bernard.
