Filigree (Divine)

(Redirected from Train brain)

Filigree is a Divine which was instrumentalized by the Divine Principality and the Fabreal Duchy into the operating core or 'train brain' of the Diadem Gravtrain.

History and Involvement[edit | edit source]

Filigree was one of many Divines which joined Palisade and his fellows (Reflection, Antiquity, Logic, Decisiveness, and Affection) long before the arrival of the Divine Principality. Filigree "spread across the planet as a way to not only connect everyone but kind of draw a beautiful pattern on the world, so that from above you could look down and see how everyone was connected to each other". Its trains ran "literally beautifully", prioritizing aesthetics over absolute efficiency.[1]

The early Divine Principality and Fabreal Duchy took Filigree, experimented on it, and — instead of carving it away like the Divines used to make Delegates — trapped it in place as the computer managing the logistics of the planet-wide Gravtrain system and the whole of the Diadem. However, it refused to do this work at high quality and engaged in malicious compliance of its orders. By the events of PALISADE, Filigree was "withered" by its simultaneous refusal and inability to "do what it loves" and manage the trains freely as a form of self-expression.[1]

After the ousting of the Bilateral Intercession, a number of groups attempted to acquire the 'train brain' housing Filigree. They were interrupted by the Affliction Dust, who compelled all parties present to bring Filigree and a Filigree doppelduster further into the Diadem. Brnine, Thisbe and Figure successfully negotiated with Dust and brought Filigree aboard the Blue Channel, while Dust kept the Filigree doppelduster for its own purposes.
