Resolute Welkin is the first Delegate scout deployed by Wakeful into Divine Principality space.

In her Delegate body, Resolute's skin is the colour of "the sky itself, reflective yet so insistent that it was its own colour, host to cloud of doubt and imagination."[1]
History and Involvement[edit | edit source]
It is unclear whether Resolute was created the way Delegates traditionally were prior to "A Palette of Colors"—i.e., through a process of torture—or whether she is a new emanation first produced after Wakeful developed its gestalt consciousness. Whatever her origin, she is deployed by Wakeful, given a Delegate shell and tasked with learning more about the galaxy. She becomes the first part of Wakeful to breach the boundaries of the Twilight Mirage and step out of temporal continuity with the rest of the gestalt, though she never loses contact with it entirely.
Not long after she separates from Wakeful, she meets the Branched researcher Xylem in the Skarnoc Debris Fields. She finds Xylem beautiful and feels an immediate affinity to it. The two of them develop a close relationship. Worried about distracting Xylem from its mission, Resolute ultimately tells it that she plans to reintegrate into Wakeful and give her shell over to a new scout. Xylem, however, does not want to be parted from Resolute. It asks if it can join Wakeful to be with her, and Wakeful agrees.[1]
