Opposition is a Divine who has long been enslaved by the Divine Principality for the purpose of creating Delegates. One such Delegate is Eclectic Opposition.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Opposition has an "extradimensional, non-Euclidean" form that always appears to be precisely the same size as its observer. This trick of scale makes it appear enormous in the distance, but smaller and smaller as it approaches.[1]
History and Involvement[edit | edit source]
Opposition was once a Divine of the Divine Fleet; at that time it was capable of powerful, seismic rage. Roughly five thousand years prior to the events of PALISADE, it was captured and enslaved by the Divine Principality, presumably as punishment for opposing the Principality. It remains buried beneath a castle and/or experimental research facility somewhere on Palisade, where it is tortured into producing Delegates. It changed at some point, possibly beaten down over time by the deaths of the rest of the Fleet or recreated after the events of Twilight Mirage, becoming less fundamentally oppositional and more of a centrist.[2]
When Principality children learn about the Divine Opposition in history class, they are not taught about the enslavement and torture; they are taught that Opposition represents "an ideal of coming together, meeting in the middle."[2]

Opposition is freed from its prison in the Caldera Stretch by members of the Cause, including its Delegate Eclectic.
When a group of Cause members approaches Opposition, Leadership, Guilt, and Reflection to request their assistance in protecting the other Divines from the Garden of Fidelity, Opposition attempts to refuse their request and send them away, having no desire to be wrapped up in such political matters again. It states that the other Divines and Delegates do not deserve their help, infuriating August Righteousness.[1]
