The Motion Engine is the core of all of Adamant Arms and Artifice's Altar designs. Derived from salvaged parts of the late Divine Motion, it grants any Altar it powers the ability to change its Approach once per sortie.[1] This offers a "reliable, long lasting, flexible source of power."[2]

It is not particularly safe technology, and long-term use of an Altar powered by a Motion Engine can have detrimental effects on a pilot. Jesset City, for example, found himself effectively "possessed by the spirit of [Motion]" after consistent, heavy use of his Jury.[3]
