Resonance

(Redirected from The Divine Resonance)

Resonance is a Nidean surveillance Divine that pervades the east coast of Palisade. It is posed as a parental figure -- "the watchful guardian, doting caregiver, and ardent supporter of Nideo's colonial efforts on Palisade."[1] It offers helpful utilities such as wake-up alarms, health check-ins, and safety alerts to Principality settlers.[2]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Resonance has a lot of drones that patrol the various Baseline cities on Palisade. These drones are very friendly-looking and have smiling LED screen faces.[3]

History and Involvement[edit | edit source]

It was first mentioned in "The Witch in the Glass Pt. 2" by the Figure in Bismuth, who said they once had a devotional practice of journaling in honor of Resonance.

In PALISADE, it is the "doting 'nanny state'" of the Principality's colonial efforts, and mechanically a pillar of the Bilateral Intercession's Nideo Division. With the expansion of Baseline, Stel Nideo and the Frontier Syndicate strike a deal to have Resonance patrol the various Baseline cities, greatly extending Resonance's influence. Driven by data collection, it requires colonists settling in Baseline cities to consent to constant surveillance, promising to use that surveillance only to hurt other people in its residents' name, not to directly hurt its residents. (So far, this has been mostly true.)[3]

In the opening to "Seize the Chance Pt. 1" it narrates a message to Baseline residents warning them about Millennium Break's recent terrorist actions. Later in the same arc one of its drones appears in the game proper, identifying and tracking Eclectic Opposition while he is in Baseline-C.[4]
