Herc Verandanza is a Bluff City sports bookie who uses his connections to make contact with high rollers in the casinos of Bluff City. He often operates out of The Double Tilt Arcade.
Herc is described as “a person who moves through places”, and has dealings regularly enough with people from Blough City that he is able to recognise, but not read, Blough City script.
After the events of Hard Luck, he was blocked from using his connections and fell on hard times, although he retained control of The Albatross casino stocks which Carly Nebraska had traded him in exchange for getting her brother out of his disastrous bet.
Although his surname is spelt differently, he is a member of the Veranda Family, as he is from an era before they had changed their name to a more anglo-sounding surname.
He is a wiry man with dark hair, and is described as looking like the bartender in The Shining (but “softer”, “if he had to live a real life”). When seen in Hard Luck, Herc is dressed in a members only jacket, khaki pants and a polo shirt.
