Seasons of Hieron[edit | edit source]

  • They eat a lot of fish in Velas and Nacre, since they're on the coast.
  • Fisher Lacey of the Bottom O' The Flounder serves "heated-up iced goosenog" on High Sun Day in Velas.[1]
  • Apples are a classic (forgotten?) Nacre import.
  • Wine is, of course, sacred to Samot.
  • Coffee exists.
  • Soup is the favorite dish in Rosemerrow,[2] including "sugar soup" with sweet crackers.[3]
  • Sandwiches appear to be popular across Hieron.
    • Sy Elmore eats a sandwich with vinegar once.[4]
    • Uklan Tel packs up some sandwiches for Fero.[5]
    • Ben gives Hella a sandwich.[6]
  • Red Jack's serves soup and pork sandwiches.[7]
  • At dinner with Samothes in Aubade, the party has a fish stew, a four seasons pie with chicken, beef, fish, and strawberries. They also have crescent shaped dinner rolls.[8]

Marielda[edit | edit source]

  • Hitchcock is served orange juice by the train bartender.[9]
  • The Tea Leaf Set (also known as the Tea Witches) brew tea that creates magical and psychotropic effects.[9]
    • Juno Eveningeyre was expelled from the tea witches, and instead brewed whiskey; she later invented kombucha.[10]
  • The Six are served a turkey dish with a berry garnish at Memoriam College.[11]
    • It's noted that this dish is halfling cuisine, from the area later known as Rosemerrow, and that Samothes must have had a successful battle for it to be served in Marielda.
  • Coffee
    • Maelgwyn drinks a dark iced coffee.[12]
    • Some types of coffee became unavailable in Marielda after Tristero sealed off Nacre.[13]
    • Primo mentions that there is fresh coffee in the guestrooms in Samothes's volcano.[14]
  • Wine
    • Several characters are seen drinking wine in Marielda, despite its association with Samot.
    • Some wines are unavailable in Marielda after Tristero sealed off Nacre, although Maelgwyn somehow manages to get his hands on an expensive Nacre vintage.[13]
  • Apples are grown in Nacre, and are no longer available in Marielda after Tristero closes Nacre off.[13]
    • Aubrey gains a love for apples after she is offered some by Samot.
  • Christopher orders a cold, foaming mixed drink.[13]
  • When the Six eat brunch during Four Conversations:
    • Aubrey orders pancakes.
    • Hitchcock orders eggs; perhaps soft-boiled or scrambled, but it doesn't matter to him.
    • Sige orders a frittata with lots of mushrooms.
    • Castille can't eat, but spends the brunch carefully peeling an orange and separating it into neat wedges.
  • Champagne and mimosas are served at Samothes's volcano on High Sun Day.[15]
  • Castille prepares two glasses of "very strong whiskey" on the rocks for Maelgwyn and herself.[15]

Divine Cycle[edit | edit source]

COUNTER/Weight[edit | edit source]

Twilight Mirage[edit | edit source]

  • Recurring milkshake references
  • When Gig creates an ice rink on Brighton, there is a concession stand nearby serving iced hot chocolate[25]
  • Calciyummm stackable milk[27]
    • To go with the Calciyummm, an intern brings Tender, Grand, Fourteen, and Morning's Observation some cookies, including chocolate chip, gingersnap, oatmeal raisin, and a fourth mystery cookie, which is persimmon, cranberry, and egg flavored.[28]
  • Honey butter oats[29]

Implied foods in Twilight Mirage[edit | edit source]

  • Although Austin states that Fourteen Fifteen is handed a cup of "kind of a warm beverage, like a thick hot chocolate basically" and "a box with some donuts in it", these are revealed to actually contain a keycard and Fourteen's gun, respectively.[30] As we never see donuts or non-iced hot chocolate on screen in the entire season, these are strictly implied.
  • Activation Stevenson is referred to as a "drinking buddy" of Fourteen Fifteen and tells them that they owe him a drink.[22]
  • When Fourteen Fifteen asks Declan's Corrective for water, he responds by asking if tap water is fine. This implies he has access to some other, possibly bottled water.[22]

PARTIZAN[edit | edit source]

  • Leap's foods include rotisserie meats, salad with yogurty dressing, energy bars, and nuts/popcorn to throw into his mouth.[31][32]
  • Ryrira and Avar give SBBR a white rice and stir fry dish, self serve from a central plate. And an oatmeal breakfast.[33]
  • Milli and Leap throw various snacks at a bad stand up comic.[34]

Road to PALISADE[edit | edit source]

  • Broadleaf serves chicken and rice soup in Eversin.
  • In Braunton people normally eat Pile of Shrimp, but Broadleaf makes shrimp and grits, cornbread, and a big cake.
  • Shrimp broth is served at Joyous Guard. The nobles of the Fabreal Duchy enjoy various soups.
  • The Brink
    • Blue oranges are featured prominently.[35]
    • Grasping vines are edible and tasty, and sold at the night markets.[35]
    • Calciyummm is mentioned as a vending machine stock.
    • Hamburger

PALISADE[edit | edit source]

Sangfielle[edit | edit source]

  • Fish jerky from Vish
  • Traditional Blackwick Huge Pomegranate
  • Oranges from the White Flower Caretaker's tree
  • Lyke has a breakfast of coffee, fried eggs and griddled toast at Bell Metal Station[38]
  • Jolyon offers Duvall and Pickman a camphorous black tea and eggs aboard the Red Zephyr; they have access to burgundy paper to-go cups, which are fancy as Sangfielle does not have mass production[39]
    • It is implied at other points that trains generate food through eldritch means in their dining cars, though it is unclear of what quality; the Grand Cormorant Limited's menu variously offers terrapin, a pasta dish, and oysters[40]
  • The Toll Collectors splurge on roast pork, rice and boiled fruit[41]
  • Jade Moon continental breakfast: griddle cakes, bacon, croissants, "a big bowl of wax" (?), fried egg whites, and a group pitcher of Bloody Mary[42]
    • Also fruit, a pastry, milk, coffee[43]
  • Chine eats a mattress
  • Characters' gas station snacks were canonized in the post-mortem; however, as gas stations (as well as automobile transport and many of the featured snacks) do not exist within the worlds of Sangfielle, this is presumably extracanonical.

Bluff City[edit | edit source]

Live at the Table[edit | edit source]

Fall of Magic[edit | edit source]

  • Fawn, as a bush dog, eats a good-sized bird raw.[47]
  • Piccolo's Aunt Matilda has him collect seven dozen frogs to make a gumbo, and/or a gumbo cake.[47]
  • On their way to Castle Stormguard, Piccolo and Caspian are conned into buying many unnecessary supplies for their journey, including oranges. They are told that oranges are critical to preventing scurvy for the human members of the crew and the dreaded double scurvy for Fawn. Caspian also buys a keg of liquor and some smoked meats wrapped in parchment.[47]
  • Caspian mentions that he likes a braided loaf of bread.[47]
  • The Magus feeds a living train some rock candy.[47]
  • While aboard the Seawing, the Fall of Magic characters and the ship's crew eat exclusively seaweed salad. The ship does have a wall of spices that everyone can use to season their salads to taste. The named spices are: paprika, salt, cylinder, coriander, peppermint, musk, and "It's a volcano". Piccolo dumps the "It's a volcano' spice on his salad and tells the rest of the crew that it tastes like ash. Afterwards, he confesses that it was actually spicy.[48]
  • The Fall of Magic characters go to the Village of Lights' Festival where the traditional festival food is meat fudge. [48]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  1. When Fourteen Fifteen points out that onions are a common ingredient in pasta sauces, he responds "My taste buds are different"
