Orth Godlove is a central character of COUNTER/Weight[1] and a mid-level bureaucrat in the Consolidated Counterweight Technocracy (CCT). He is a retired soldier and ace pilot, formerly of the Queen's Gambit.
Appearance
Orth is a black man with a pocked face and graying stubble.[2] His initial facecast is Dennis Haysbert in 24,[3] followed quickly by Laurence Fishburne in Hannibal.[4] He is neat but weary.[3]

- He knows that this assignment is a well-calculated suicide mission, meant to get rid of him, his troublesome crew, an Apostolosian heir, and a powerful divine.
History and Involvement

Golden War
Orth was an OriCon pilot during the Golden War. He was originally part of the Queen's Gambit before before being promoted. In the final move against the Apostolosian Empire, he served as captain of the Kingdom Come and commanded OriCon's fleet.
Counterweight
On Counterweight, Orth worked for the CCT, trying to keep peace between major planetary powers, while also maintaining it's sovereignty in a vast political landscape. Orth employs fixers on behalf of the CCT, serving as a main contact for The Chime's missions. Before the events of the season, he gives AuDy the Kingdom Come. He hires them to investigate the destruction of the Blue Sky Domes, which he fears was a play by OriCon or the Diaspora against the other. Later, he tries to alleviate the food crisis on Counterweight, but is kidnapped by Sister Rust and the Iron Choir, activating an emergency call that The Chime receives.
After the Chime attracts Ibex's attention, Orth warns them of the danger they're in. He has them live through reconstructions of Jace's memories, and then helps them flee Counterweight before Ibex finds them.
