Hyacinth is the Apostolosian Elect of the Divine Motion who is nearing the end of their 100 years of service in the Black Century.

Hyacinth is an older Apostolosian, described as gaunt and tired. Their body has taken a significant toll throughout piloting Motion, but they are kept alive to complete their century of service. They have a sickly appearance, recessed eyes, crinkly copper hair, and cheeks and scales that have grown pale with age.[1]

History and Involvement[edit | edit source]

Hyacinth and the Black Century encounter the forces of the Rapid Evening attempting to take Fort Icebreaker. As Motion is spread throughout the entire Black Century, keeping them alive, Hyacinth actually pilots their own mech: the Pneuma. Throughout the battle Motion speaks through Hyacinth, baiting Ver'million Blue and the rest of the Rapid Evening.

During the fight with the Rapid Evening, Hyacinth begins to die. As the Black Century is leaving, Hyacinth is ejected from the Pneuma by Motion, and left to die on the battlefield. While they do not have long, being disconnected from Motion does bring some life into them, and they are able to breathe freely for a short time. Ver'million Blue takes the time to gently lift Hyacinth with the Stray Dog and bring her back to their base. Hyacinth thanks her, and passes away shortly afterwards. Ver’million immediately declares Motion as her rival.

During the fight, Motion seems to suggest that she and Hyacinth are associated with the Pact, though it is not clear to what degree, stating "To oppose the Pact is to oppose Necessity itself."[2] This is soon confirmed: Hyacinth is, alongside Motion, a signator and leader of the Pact of Necessary Venture. However, it is likely that Motion has more importance to the Pact than Hyacinth.[3]
