The Augur, Providence is a cyborg from a reclaimed robotic clown from the Saltwater Pier and miscellaneous other parts, who’s eyes flicker like the warming and cooling of light bulbs. It is not clear if she was made by a pessimistic queer theorist or is she was a person who blended herself with machinery.

She has a old reel-to-reel that was used to run the Pier’s advertising (“Be sure the try to dinner special down at Borchelli’s/advertising new rides), and her creator used the reel-to-reel to record personal notes about her family, relationships and life, but also about her hobbies, who she was, and academic studies.

She is able to provide guidance and information, although her perspective sometimes makes her feel separate from the others in Bluffington Beach. She believes that a looming threat faces Bluffington Beach ("Hope and mischief are fires that we must keep ever burning, or we will face eternal darkness").

Prior to the start of Dream Askew, she and Samantha were dating.

She wears clothing with striking colours and sigils on her clothes, and marking on her face. He clothes are tattered, having been cut from the robotic clown costume, with the arms of her clothing baggy enough that they hang down so that the sigils on her flesh/machinery arms are visible (factory seal (made in Palto Alto, made in China, barcodes, etc). She is biracial and looks like Rebecca Walker.
