History[edit | edit source]

Family[edit | edit source]

The Charlise estate is located in the Marchmont Mountains, which is unusual as the wilderness is associated with witches and dangerous magic. The family often spends time in Nievelmarch proper, where they own a bakery. They are known for their signature pies served in crystalline dishes.

Mint has been secluded in the mountains since early childhood, for mysterious and potentially curse-related reasons. She has reentered society, carrying her family’s hope of a respectable marriage that will help fix their reputation as magical eccentrics. She has two younger siblings staying with her in town, between the ages of 8 and 12. Mint’s desire during the holiday season is to make or receive two marriage proposals, accepting one and rejecting the other.

Reputation[edit | edit source]

Mint’s reputation begins as fascinating but strange. During the events of Good Society, Mint’s former caretaker Hilda comes to call after word of James’ plans for expansion reaches the Marchmont Mountains.

Relationships[edit | edit source]

Chatelaine Pellier is Mint’s best friend in Nievelmarch, after stepping in to act as a guide during her return to society.

Diego Flint considers himself a rival to Mint, though she is not particularly concernered about him one way or another.

James is an up-and-coming businessman pursuing Mint for her family’s titles and proprietary pie making techniques. Her parents consider him a good match for her, due to his wealth and position in Nievelmarch.

Marzie Summerville is an another suitor to Mint, who much prefers her company to that of James. However, their mysterious background and lack of family titles make her a less socially acceptable marriage prospect.

Hilda is a witch of the Velvet Manor, who acted as Mint’s host and guardian during her seclusion in the mountains.
