Vicuna is the young Candidate of Grace. She is around 16 at the beginning of COUNTER/Weight and around 21 by the end.

Appearance

Vicuna is described as both having long blonde hair and bangs[1] and being small and dark.[2] She wears a form fitting white and gold flight suit and has visible cyberware in the back of her neck.[1]

In "Everything is Temporary", she has on a tank top and a jumpsuit with the top half tied around her waist, as she's just come from physiotherapy.

Personality

Vicuna is severe and judgemental of others. She is very self-composed, even in the face of physical danger.

History and Involvement

In her first appearance ("This Month of Ours"), Kira Voight attempts to assassinate Vicuna, but one of Vicuna's marines jumps in front of the shot. Later, after Kira has been captured by the Hands of Grace, Vicuna questions her with little success, but is interrupted by a Rapid Evening unit attacking Grace. In the ensuing fight, Kira breaks Vicuna's arm severely and Vicuna shoots one of the Rapid Evening agents, but they escape with Kira.

In "A Special Kind of Warmth" Vicuna and Grace are briefly seen making contact with the planet of Sigilia.

In "Everything is Temporary" Ibex, Kobus, Vicuna and their respective Divines have a meeting on Sigilia wherein Ibex explains the threat of Rigour. Vicuna and Grace agree to a temporary truce in order to deal with the immediate threat.

Vicuna and Grace's increasingly erratic behavior presents a threat to the stability of the Golden Branch sector in "A Splintered Branch, A Ringing Bell".

Kobus considers Grace dangerous enough that they duel Vicuna in order to access Grace. The fight culminates in Vicuna's defeat, and she coughs blood up as she watches Kobus pilot Grace off Sigilia and into the sun. It's unclear whether she was killed in the process.

Trivia

  • A vicuna is a type of South American camelid. The name of the animal is not normally pronounced as it is on the podcast.
