The golden orb is owned by the Iron Choir, who store it within the sleeping Order where it supplies a field of life that allows them to create working farms even without the protection of a dome against Counterweight's poisoned atmosphere.
Origins[edit | edit source]
Aria's initial reconnaissance on the orb suggests that it was made by the Rapid Evening.[1] Later it becomes clear that the golden orb was created by Apostolos during the Golden War as one half of a superweapon (possibly making use of Rapid Evening tech in some way).[2] It was activated during a conflict between Addax and Jace Rethal above Counterweight, destroying the planet's biosphere in an instant and creating Weight.[3][4]
