Duck is a a very good horse that was stuck in glass (silica vitra).

It is a horse that gets smaller, and has a prehensile mane.

It is from the planet Quire. It is introduced in Episode 12, "The Promise of Peace." At some point in the past, probably in the period of instability between the Glassed Age and the Blooded Age, it is trapped inside glass in a mausoleum full of others of its species. It is eventually freed by Gig Kep-hart and then follows Gig back to Old Church and is currently somewhere in Sculpture City.
