"Counter-Example Guided Model For Non-Interventionist Regulation of the Meta-Divine" is a scholarly article focused on public policy in the Golden Branch. Its first author is Dr. Renna Rose. Published in the journal Foundations and Findings in Post-Divine Technologies, the article contains the first proposal for "a model of regulation that allows for control of meta-Divine technologies within the Principality without the need for direct use of armed-state power." The model in question is a hypothetical device that could be used to increase the Rapid Evening's surveillance capabilities and prevent criminal offenses within the Principality of Kesh's jurisdiction before they even occur.

This hypothetical device, initially imagined as a mere thought experiment by Rose and their co-authors, would would eventually be realized as Crystal Palace.

Dr. Jace Rethal peer reviews the article for Foundations and Findings. He strongly opposes its publication and publishes a scathing critique of it in the same issue.[4]

Dr. Jace Rethal is an occasional peer-reviewer for the journal. While Foundations and Findings primarily publishes "quantitative studies of contemporary technologies" and "engineer-led explanations of the few remaining dark corners" in the field of post-Divine technologies, it is also the publisher of the policy-focused theoretical article "Counter-Example Guided Model for Non-Interventionist Regulation of the Meta-Divine".

Like many scholarly journals in the real world, a lot of the articles it publishes have clunky titles that would be inaccessible or off-putting to anyone not already familiar with the field.[4]

The Old Treaties

The Old Treaties are a collection of ancient legal documents that recognized Divines and Elects as assets of the state and stipulated that any Divines or Elects wounded in intra-Principality conflict must be safely recovered and returned to their home Stel. Implicit in the treaties is the belief, understood and shared by all Stels at the time of signing, that the Principality as a whole will outlive any given internal conflict.[10]
