The Holiday Special is a Friends at the Table mid-season tradition. Holiday specials feature episodes which use rules from games other than the main format of the current season, and often take place at a different spot in the chronology. Holiday specials are usually released during late December and early January, hence the name. However, this was not possible in PARTIZAN since its start date placed the middle of the season in the summer.

Autumn in Hieron[edit | edit source]

Main article: Velas Deputies

The season one holiday special was a two-episode story where the adventurers were deputized by the Golden Lance to investigate the murder of Gregalos in Velas on High Sun Day. The rules for the special were loosely based on Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, but players were also able to use the abilities their characters possessed within Dungeon World. Although the season was ongoing and both groups were still in the middle of their quests at the time this special was recorded and released, it is set at the conclusion of Autumn in Hieron, after both parties return to Velas.

COUNTER/Weight[edit | edit source]

Main article: Kingdom (COUNTER/Weight)

The holiday special in season two tells the story of a fleet of ships from major factions in the Golden Branch banding together on a desperate mission to stop the deployment of an Apostolosian superweapon. The special used the game Kingdom, and was set ten years prior to the events of COUNTER/Weight.

Winter in Hieron[edit | edit source]

Main article: The Fellowship

The holiday special from Friends at the Table's third season had the cast use the rules of Follow to play out a story (as told to the Forest Party by Red Jack) of a group of Marielda shopkeepers from long ago, shortly after the events of the Marielda interlude.

Twilight Mirage[edit | edit source]

The season four holiday special was the second holiday special to use the game Follow, this time to tell three stories set during the Miracle of the Mirage. First, Signet, Grand Magnificent and Even try to stop Independence from recovering its mind. Second, Fourteen and Tender try to save the life of the Cadent. Third, Echo and Gig try to safely evacuate the fleet. Unlike previous holiday specials, this story is not a flashback or flash forward.

PARTIZAN[edit | edit source]

Main article: Kingdom (PARTIZAN)

The season six holiday special was played in Kingdom. A band of would-be revolutionaries do their best to found and defend a movement to break the endless "perfect" millennium of the Divine Principality: Millennium Break. As in Twilight Mirage's holiday special, this special follows directly from previous events in the season.
