Kalliope

From fattwiki

Kalliope is a planet in the Sagittarius arm section of the Golden Branch.

COUNTER/Weight[edit | edit source]

Kalliope is controlled by OriCon. The planet is seismically unstable, with lots of earthquakes, and the population numbers in the tens of thousands.

It's "Space LA", with many genetically or physically altered people and a vibrant fashion culture. These alterations originally started with far-reaching genetic experiments done by Fairchild Research and Development. These experiments were meant to create people better adapted for Kalliope's many earthquakes, and focused on things such as improving eyesight, reflexes and survivability, only later evolving into both more aesthetic- and combat-oriented fields.

The earliest examples of these genetic procedures were forced on the native population of the planet, and the few that survived were pushed off-world as the image of Kalliope changed over time. Some of these rat people would go on to form the Odamas Fleet, a group of space pirates and cast-offs determined to reclaim their home.

After a broad failure to unify during the war against Rigour, the many resulting losses eventually convinced the independent planets in the Golden Branch, including Kalliope, to unify under Gemm, creating the Free States of Gemm.

Road to PALISADE[edit | edit source]

Kalliope's location in the Golden Branch is where Stel Kesh and Stel Columnar arms of space come against each other, very near the front of the war against the Branched. After tens of thousands of years, it is far from being "Space LA", instead covered by steep mountains and forests.

Somerset House is located in a particularly inaccessible mountainous area of the planet.
