Sister Rust

From fattwiki

Sister Rust is the persuasive, zealous, and boisterous religious leader of the Iron Choir. She is a large woman, slightly taller than Orth Godlove. When on the job she wears handcrafted sharp metal armor on her torso, over flowing ankle-length robes. Part of her role for the Choir is in giving sermons, which sometimes take musical form.

She is apparently in contact with Addax Dawn and/or the Rapid Evening (as Addax mentions speaking to her in a journal entry).[1]

Sister Rust was first encountered in "I Am Not Allowed", threatening to kill Orth to keep the Chime from rescuing him. AuDy captured her and brought her back to the Kingdom Come, but after a discussion about her beliefs, chose to release her.[2] This left Sister Rust owing them a favor, and led to complications when the Chime were hired to recover the golden orb from the Iron Choir.

Sister Rust seems to have made an impact on AuDy, as they gave her one of their antennae, took to wearing a Peace symbol from the body of another member of the Iron Choir, and returned the golden orb despite the net loss to the Chime's finances.

By the finale of COUNTER/Weight, Sister Rust and the Iron Choir were loyal to Aria and her Righteous Vanguard.[3] Under Sister Rust's direction, the Choir aided in the fight against Rigour alongside Tea Kenridge in an army of dead metal mechs. This was "seen as a sort of betrayal" of their principles, but they considered Rigour a greater enemy than live metal. In the final moments of the battle, Peace was overtaken by Rigour, and Sister Rust willingly activated the golden orb to stop the Divine, causing her death. As she died, she reflected on the ways she had lied to the Choir about the world and her own beliefs, but not about "the value of life and community".[4]
