The baby is the creature that hatched from the egg sac.
It is a strange majestic creature with a quadripartite jaw that resembles a combination of a dolphin, velociraptor, and an eel. It also acts very unsure, like a startled baby deer. It is carnivorous and will eat unattended corpses.
After throwing up on Chine's shirt, they are devoted to him and take cues from him as to what to do. Chine refuses to name the baby until it is able to tell them its own name; Hazard refers to it as "your dog" despite it not remotely resembling a dog.
