Caust Nideo was the ruler of Stel Nideo during the Time of Fables. He lead Empyrean and his capital ship to the centre of the galaxy in an attempt to gain control of the space station there, which would have given the Divine Principality the power of the galactic core. He was ultimately foiled when Teasel successfully installed the Divine Perennial in the station, putting the power of the core in her hands and leading to the formation of the Perennial Wave.
In play, it was previously believed that Caust kept Empyrean leashed as a pet, in a relationship that his ancestors in the Divine Fleet would have been disgusted by.[1] However, due to a failed roll by Dre, it was revealed that this was not the case--Empyrean was instead a willing participant in the empire they were a part of.
