Saffron Septet is a doctor from the Twilight Mirage who acts as the Blue Channel's ship medic and counselor.[1]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Saffron is a digital consciousness who can move between different synthetic bodies. These include a larger-than-average Torch Unit, a motorcycle, and a specialized surgeon's body with extra arms and delicate, dexterous hands.[1] When she's in the surgeon's body, the extra arms hover around her; some of them are humanoid and some are claw arms.[2] Unaware that she would be unable to use them outside the Mirage, she also brought a few bodies to Palisade that do not work there, including a non-humanoid body composed of tiny objects shaped like box kites that are knitted together in a floating oblong form.[3]

History and Involvement[edit | edit source]

Gucci Garantine assigns Saffron to the Blue Channel while the ship is docked at the Crown of Glass; Brnine, as the ship's captain, is told that they cannot refuse her as a member of their crew.

While Brnine shows Saffron around the ship, Asepsis reacts to her, classifying her Torch Unit body as an enemy combatant from the New Earth Hegemony and trying to force her consciousness out of it. Brnine is able to nonverbally talk Asepsis down, but as a result, Saffron feels unwelcome aboard the ship.[1]

As a doctor from the Mirage, she is skilled at all sorts of surgeries that might seem esoteric to those not from the Mirage. When Figure comes to her to fix their scorched body, she quickly dials up a surgery routine she has on hand for just that, spackling, buffing, powerwashing, jackhammering, and sealing them up.[2]
