The Fabreal Duchy is a duchy on Palisade descended from the Crown of Glass, ruled by a noble class "living in luxury in a ruined world". The Duke of Glass (Perpetual Lustre) has traditionally been at the top, but with the arrival of the Principality to Palisade, he has been ousted in favor of his counts and other nobles.

Nobles have glass bodies filled with the oil of Unction, which contains their consciousness. The glass of their bodies is able to shift and reform to some degree. With age, the glass is stained by the oil, taking on color.

The Duchy enslaves Delegates, who are viewed as the lowest of the low. There is also a human servant and peasant class held in slightly higher regard.

They use stained glass heavily in their architecture, and model their castles and towns after Arthurian legends (much more than any historical reality).

Trivia

  • "Fabreal" is taken from Favrile glass (which comes from an Old English word meaning hand-made) as well as real, meaning royal in several Romance languages.[1]
