The Independents are a group of people who worship Independence. Former residents of Quire who survived the war and conflict brought on by Independence, they were found by Curiosity, who brought them into the Fleet. They wanted to revive Independence, and some even planned to incorporate the Divine into the Fleet.[1] Armstrong claimed that within the Fleet, they had a lot of freedom of movement due to Empyrean's sympathy for survivors.[2]

They kidnapped the Doyenne while working to revive the corpse of Independence, but she had her own ideas. Echo, Even, Gig and Grand Magnificent found their Quire base in "godspeed, glory Pt. 2", where the Doyenne's communication with the Iconoclasts was revealed, along with her plan to use Grand Magnificent's schematics for Independence.

Iconoclastics[edit | edit source]

The Iconoclastics are a group of worshipers of Volition, the Axioms and the Iconoclasts. They emerged some time after the Miracle of the Mirage and live on Seneschal's Brace. They are tolerated due to the system's support of religious freedom. The group includes some of the former Independents, such as their leader, Alekhine Dendaro.[3]
