“
I love it when a plan comes together.”
Cassander Timaeus Berenice or Cass is a member of the Chime. They are a prince of Apostolos, the third child of House Pelagios. They served as a medic for Apostolos during the Golden War. Their Eidolon, as of "An Astonishingly Illegal Ship", is Apole.
Appearance
Cass has weary eyes, a thin face and a wiry body. Their skintone is mediterranean. Their hair is like Yu Narukami's from Persona (short, with long bangs).[1] They wear vintage Apostolosian styles from post-contact but pre-war.[1] They have a "nice coat" from when they were decommissioned.[2]
This section contains spoilers for PARTIZAN 31: The Grand Premiere.

Personality
Cass is authoritative, attentive, and intuitive.[3]
Directives:
When you put the advice of Koda ahead of the mission, mark Experience.(replaced with Vengeful)
- Vengeful: When you harm a Divine or their interests mark experience.
- Rejected: When your former membership in the Apostolos Royalty hinders the mission, mark experience.[4]
History and Involvement
Pre-COUNTER/Weight
Cassander was raised to the Apostolosian royal house, as its youngest child. Their family was rarely all in one place, and after they reached school age their parents stopped doing hands-on parenting.
In the Golden War, they were assigned as a medic to keep them out of the front lines. Early on, their sibling Euanthe, the heir, was hospitalized and thought likely to die, so Cassander, despite being the youngest, was propelled to heirship. However, at the end of the war Euanthe recovered and retook the position. Afterwards Cass remained on Counterweight near their former commanding officer Koda Whitegloves, and did not return to Apostolos, though they occasionally communicated with their parents.
COUNTER/Weight
Spoiler warning! This section contains major spoilers for all of COUNTER/Weight. Tread carefully! |
This section is incomplete. You can help by expanding it.
At some point Cass joins the criminal and mercenary group the Chime as their medic and planmaker. They participate in a mission to rescue Cene Sixheart ("I Would Like A Bribe") and a mission to rescue Orth Godlove ("Here's Your Bribe Tip").
During the period between "Our Hostage Below" and "A Thing You Know About Nightclubs", Cass takes part in two missions. One involves them, Mako and AuDy targeting a convoy carrying supplies to September. Another involves Aria and AuDy transporting surveyors on Weight for Orth and the CCT; Cass gives medical advice before and after.[5]
The Chime then takes a mission to recover the Gnosis Virus, which Cass insists on returning to Apostolos ("A Thing You Know About Nightclubs", "We've All Killed People"). Their next mission involves stealing a strange golden orb from the Iron Choir ("COUNTER/Weight 16: The Rear Left Engine").
Cass experiences the memory farm along with the rest of the Chime; they play the part of Addax. Afterwards, the group flees Counterweight until they are (unwillingly) hired by Ibex to investigate September. While there, Cass finds the mech Apokine and takes it with them.
Abilities
In Mechnoir, Cass has one Bodyguard training, one Pilot training, and one Enforcer training.[3]
In the Sprawl, they have the stats Cool: 2, Edge: 1, Meat: 0, Mind: 0, Style: -1, Synth: 1.[4]
Possessions
- Rigalia (civic crown, neural interface with targeting suite)
- [Mechnoir] Barker (pistol)[3]
- Lioness2 AR (automatic rifle, folds up for mobility)
- Flashbang
- Armored vest
- Trauma derms (healing device)
- C-ROME Arm (a quick-fix replacement limb)[4]
Mech
Their catchphrase when launching in their mech is "Cassander. Mark." They initially pilot the Megalo File, and later the Arete.
This section contains spoilers for COUNTER/Weight 39: Just Another Machine.

Cass also pilots the Apokine after finding it during the September Incident.
Trivia
- All of Cass's names are taken from Ancient Greek:
- Cassander means "one who excels over man". This name is most prominently associated with a king of Macedonia.
- Timaeus is taken from the word "to honor".
- Berenice means "bearer of victory".
- Pelagios is a name meaning "of the sea".
- Art believes they're goth, though he never said so on the show.[6]
Notes
- ↑ When Apostolosians were created in the COUNTER/Weight worldbuilding episode, their society's gender system was binary by default. The Apostolosian gender and pronoun system was invented and elaborated as play continued, and because of this after-the-fact retcon, Apostolosian characters during COUNTER/Weight are often referred to with binary pronouns. In later seasons, Apostolosians are more consistently referred to with "they" pronouns (unless they specifically choose to use others), and it has become standard practice both by cast and fandom to apply these pronouns to COUNTER/Weight-era Apostolosians as well, even if those pronouns weren't consistently used at time of production.
