Erica Rizzo is a Bluff City grad student, who currently wrestles for Promenade Wrestling on an arts grant which is funded by local fisherman. She was interested in performing arts from a young age, having done theatre in high school.
Due to the grants money coming from local fisherman, Erica had to take an ocean-based gimmick, rather than wrestling as herself (as she would have preferred to do).
As her work at Promenade is paid for by the arts grant, Simeon Shaw sees her as "free talent" and has pushed her to the top of the card over others, causing Jake the Jackal to be jealous of her rapid rise to the top. Chuck Buckly (aka Charlie Cupid), despite having debuted at the same time as Erica, has not been pushed as fully although he does not seem to harbor any particular ill will about it, even going so far as to help Erica train (as Erica is a better talker than she is a wrestler). Erica also trains in her own time at the Firebird Gym.
Despite her newbie status at Promenade, Erica takes her work very seriously, stretching and reading over her match notes to rehearse her lines prior to her matches.
Aqua Illusion Persona
FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE OCEAN HERSELF! THE SEA GODDESS! THE MERMAID!
IT’S BLUFF CITY’S OWN AQUA ILLUSION! THERE’S NO ILLUSION HERE, FOLKS, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!
Hailing from "the bottom of the ocean" Aqua Illusion is a "seapunk selkie", based partially on the recent reports of a selkie in Bluff City. Her finishing move is called The High Tide.
Her wrestling outfit is holographic fish scale leggings, v-neck t-shirt, a denim jacket but half is cut away with a fishing net hanging down and big black panel on the back that says ‘started from the bottom’ on it in sequin Thriller font, and a blue wig.
She has a "classic and impressive" entrance. The lights of the arena are turned down to imitate the reflection of the water, with music that’s "Tragic Kingdom by way of vaporwave" (specifically the 'started from the bottom/donkey kong mashup').
During the last pay-per-view previous to the events of The Grapplers Down at Promenade Arena, Aqua switched from being a heel as part of Monster House to being a face.
Moves (The Golden Boy)
Finishing Move
When you’re booked to win a match, roll 2d6. On a 10+, you hit your finisher clean, gain +1 Audience. On a 7-9, they make you work for it. Choose: they obviously allow you to get the win and gain +1 Heat with them; they push you, you both gain +1 Momentum. On a botch, choose: an authority figure interferes and calls the match in your favor on a technicality, losing you -1 Audience; or there was a last-minute change to the booking from backstage and your opponent wins the match.
Always Learning
When you work a match with someone you know is better than you, roll +Work. On a 10+ pick 2, on a 7-9 pick 1: gain +1 Momentum; gain +1 Heat with them; gain their respect. On a botch, you make a rookie mistake and lose -1 Audience.
I Am The Future
When you keep a promise or follow through on a threat you made on camera, roll +look. On a 10+ pick 2, on a 7-9 pick 1: book yourself a match with any opponent; add a stipulation to a match; gain +2 Momentum. On a botch, you get booked in a punitive match.
