This article contains major spoilers for Season One of Bluff City. Tread carefully!

Hector Hu is a priest and former radio DJ.

Hector has certifications from many different Christian faiths, and when asked which specific religion, Hector will say that he is “a man of faith” from the “one true church”.

He is beloved by the citizens of Bluff City and was famously part of the reason that the laws were passed so that Graysand Paranormal could operate within Bluff City. He was also an enthusiastic proponent of superheroes in Bluff City, perhaps in part because he was saved from the Eel King by Paternoster, Grouse, The Champ and Mr Good. His radio show made him a fixture of Bluff City life.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Hector is Filipino and Black, similar in appearance to an older version of the musician Toro y Moi. When seen in "There Is No Greater Love", he has a soul patch and wears wire framed glasses. When seen in Messy Business, he wears small, round sunglasses and a priest’s collar with black pants and a black shirt.

History and Involvement[edit | edit source]

Radio Show[edit | edit source]

After arriving in Bluff City six years prior to the events of There Is No Greater Love, Hector began hosting a radio show, which ran on WBRK The Break from 2:30am-10am. Although the morning drive-in section of the show included traffic and guest segments, the bulk of the show was devoted to the discussion of conspiracy theories, often using coded language to discuss them (for example, using colours to speak about crimes on the radio (code burgundy for a person being murdered)). During his six years on air, he never missed a night of shows (even when he had a terrible hacking cough).

When confronted with times he had been wrong Hector would accept it but brush it aside (“everyone’s been wrong once or twice, Jesus flipped the tables”).

The sign off to his show was “infinite love”, although for a full year after the second Obama replacement/assassination he signed off the show with "omega love" until the original Obama replacement was reinstituted.

His office at the WBRK studios contained a corkboard with information on various conspiracies (photos of the second Obama replacements with red circles highlighting “differences” (“look he’s got a different jaw bone”)), a listeners choice award, a full suit of medieval knight's armour, and a wall that is decorated with eight horseshoe crabs.

Conspiracies Mentioned[edit | edit source]

  • The second Obama replacement was a crab man.
  • Dragons are eating the city recycling.
  • Coast guards were responsible for a bank robbery.

The Concern[edit | edit source]

Hector once worked for the Concern as the mentor of Agent Heard. While on a Deep Blue mission under Senior Agent Baxter, Hu disappeared and the Concern tried him in absentia for various breaches of department protocol. Any prior association with him is now viewed with suspicion by the Concern.

Hector was killed at age 36 in Bluff City by Agent Ward, prior to the beginning of "There Is No Greater Love", triggering an investigation into his death, and the upheaval of the events of that game. His death was reported on by Jennifer Jetta ("Hector Hu Priest and Radio man, dead at age 36"). However, during "Messy Business", this version of Hector was revealed to be a Content-Aware Peel (not Hector himself) who had been killed by Agent Ward after he (the Peel) began to look into Concern business.

After the events of "Messy Business", Hector is shown as setting up an organisation to work against the Concern with Maggie Darcy, Agent Heard, and Chris Andrews.
