Kleos

From fattwiki
(Redirected from Epoché)

Kleos is a member of GLORY, and a clone of the Apostolisian Eidolon Kleos. They are rude and a shit-talker.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

"Skin is an iridescent maroon color. Wears a bright red cloak wrapped around their neck and hanging back like a cape, totally topless otherwise, revealing a firm, muscular torso. Khaki fatigue-capris. A spear slung over their back, and a heavy sidearm at their waist."[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

They are very skilled at getting under people’s skin, using this to distract more skilled opponents.

History and Involvement[edit | edit source]

Kleos is a clone of the historical Eidolon of the same name, and a member of GLORY. They are a part of the mission to recover pieces of the Divine Past in Obelle, though they never directly engage with the Rapid Evening, and instead just irritate Cas’alear Rizah off screen.

Kleos is a part of GLORY’s mission in the High Altar to disrupt the screening of a Millennium Break propaganda film. They engage Cas’alear, drawing them away from the fight. While Cas’alear is the more skilled pilot, Kleos is able to keep cas distracted by taunting cas about the role of GLORY in Apostolos, bringing up that if Dahlia truly agreed with Cas’alear’s views, then they would have shut down the GLORY project years ago. When Cas’alear does finally try and return to the main force, Kleos almost dispatches cas, but is interrupted by Phrygian, who destroys Kleos’ mech. Kleos ejects, and flees into the night.

Mech[edit | edit source]

Kleos pilots the Epoché, which is a variant of the Kosmos prototype developed by Columnar’s Zenith Fund and modified for melee combat.

It is a "deep brown, triangular head, humanoid machine with gold accents, a faceplate made of brown stone, and heavy skirt plates to defend its upper legs/lower torso. A long, oval shield built onto its left arm, a pair of grappling hooks launches on its skirt waist. Wields a guisarme—a spear that has a hook on the reverse side of the blade. There’s a rope inside of it, so it splits and you can spin it around like a ranged weapon."[2]

"The bottom of the weapon’s shaft is weighted with a dense metal to allow for heavy clubbing attacks, and since the guisarme is able to split into two, connected by a long electrified cable, both the blade and club are able to be wielded simultaneously. Kleos is known to spin it around in a disorienting fashion and wield either side as a ranged weapon, using the electrified cable to disable anyone who gets caught up in the chain."[3]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Kleos is the Greek concept translated to "renown", or "glory" and carries the implied meaning of "what others hear about you". A Greek hero earns kleos through accomplishing great deeds.[4]
  • Epoché is the Ancient Greek term for “suspension of judgement.”[5]
  • While Kleos is not killed on screen, in PARTIZAN 46: Operation Shackled Sun: Act 2: The Gate after Vervain’s death, Austin comments that Apothesa and Laurel are the last remaining members of GLORY, meaning Kleos is implied to have been killed at some point previously. It is possible that Kleos was one of the two mechs shot off the high-speed transport by Milli in PARTIZAN 40: Engine Burn. It is also possible Austin simply lost track of Kleos, and had forgotten they were not dead.
